Liz is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant with 10 years of diverse nursing experience in a wide variety of settings with a specialty focus in Cardiac Intensive Care. She has worked all types of ICUs, all levels of adult patient care, across a variety of medical facilities.

A legal nurse consultant is a registered nurse who uses expertise as a health care provider and specialized training to consult on medical-related legal cases. Legal nurse consultants assist attorneys in reading medical records and understanding medical terminology and standards of practice to achieve the best results for their clients
A Certified legal nurse is a registered nurse who obtains additional education from a Legal Nurse Education program to become "certified legal nurse consultant".
A CLNC screens cases for merit, reviews medical records, assists with discovery, conducts reviews of the existing literature and medical research, identifies standards of care, prepares reports and summaries, assesses injuries and damages, creates demonstrative evidence, locates or acts as an expert testifying witness, and much more. Essentially, a CLNC can assist throughout a case, from start to finish.

No. A CLNC differs from a paralegal in that a legal nurse consultant uses existing expertise as a health care professional to consult and educate attorney-clients on specific medical and nursing issues in their cases.
